Guldin Falls is a small prospecting and logging town near the southwestern edge of the Kragspeak Mountains. The town sits just off a ford on the Bann Creek. It remains a profitable settlement due to it’s location downstream from a series of waterfalls that exit a cave in the Kragspeak themselves; the ford broadens and shallows the river in a way that allows the water to continue on while leaving all sorts of detritus behind; gold, silver, gems, crystals and even occasionally mithril. Attempts to mine directly from the cave have met with little success.
Townsfolk not involved in the business of panning for minerals and gems log trees from the surrounding Durs Wood. The Bann Creek is a tributary that leads to the Emerald Rapids, a river system that flows from south to north, down toward Jarren’s Outpost. After riding the logs upriver, cheaply, or more safely transporting them by barge, to Jarren’s Outpost. From there the lumber is traded or bought by merchants who port it north to Valderin’s Gate or to other settlements.
