The Ark of Nature
Sprinkled throughout the Fringe are Druidic Enclaves comprised of all the races (with the notable exception of full-blooded elvenkind). With the disappearance of the elves, the caretakers of Mielikki’s domain found their forces vastly reduced, and they began a process of recruitment. With the encroachment of the Deadlands from the southwest and the Char making its demonic presence felt all along the eastern border, the growing of crops became more difficult. The Ark of Nature sees its mission as two-fold; to protect and provide. The protection of nature is foremost in their mind; where there is corruption they seek to correct it, if they can – forestall it if they cannot. Secondly, they seek to provide a haven for nature and food for all. They trade their goods as farmers, as carefully guard the secret of their good fortune in harvesting crops where all around them plants wither and die.
While they are spread throughout the land, these enclaves are all connected through the roots of the Ark of Nature; anger one enclave and word will quickly spread; no shelter shall be offered to you under their green branches; no succor shall be offered to you when hungry or thirsty, and the beasts of nature may pursue you with vicious claws and fangs. Befriend an enclave, and you may find an oasis where you least expect it, ready to offer you a night of safety.
Other groups of druids also exist, though separately from the Ark. Where the Ark protects its territory and trades with surrounding settlements, these independent Groves take a much more proactive view toward healing the world around them.
